About Amore Italy
Amore Italy specializes in private-driver journeys designed for small groups of 2 to 6 travelers. Our tours are ideal for couples, families, and friends who want to experience Italy without being part of a motorcoach tour that moves a large group from one major tourist attraction to another.
The small-group format provides greater flexibility and personal attention. Each itinerary combines boutique accommodations, private transportation, authentic local experiences, carefully selected meals, and signature activities designed to help you experience Italy in a more meaningful way.

Because every Amore Italy departure may include slightly different experiences, your final confirmed itinerary will be the controlling document for exactly what is included in your specific tour package.-
Beginning in 2027, the Amore Italy itinerary includes one night in Rome, six nights in Montone at Fortebraccio Hotel & SPA, and one night in Florence. The centerpiece of your stay is Fortebraccio Hotel & Spa, our boutique hilltop retreat in Montone, Umbria. For your nights in Rome and Florence, Amore Italy selects accommodations from a curated list of quality 4-star hotels. The specific hotel is confirmed based on availability at the time your final payment is made. This allows us to maintain the quality and location standards of the Amore Italy experience while securing the best available hotel for your travel dates.
All payments made toward your Amore Italy journey are non-refundable and non-transferable. Because unexpected circumstances can arise before or during your trip, we strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. Travel insurance may provide protection for covered circumstances such as trip cancellation or interruption, medical emergencies, travel delays, and lost or delayed baggage. Please carefully review the terms, conditions, and coverage of any travel insurance policy you purchase to make sure it meets your individual needs.
Amore Italy tours are rated 3+ on a 4-point physical difficulty scale. While our itineraries are thoughtfully designed to balance sightseeing with relaxation, guests should be comfortable with a moderate-to-high level of daily walking. When touring Italian cities and hill towns such as Rome, Florence, Assisi, Perugia, Siena, and Cortona, travelers should be physically able to walk up to approximately 2 miles per day.
Travel in Italy can be very different from travel in the United States. Many historic towns and attractions were built centuries ago and do not have the same accessibility standards travelers may be accustomed to in the U.S. Guests should expect:

Guests may choose to skip certain activities or spend additional time relaxing at the hotel; however, travelers should understand that a reasonable level of mobility, balance, and walking endurance is necessary to comfortably enjoy the full Amore Italy experience. If you have any mobility limitations or concerns about your ability to walk, climb steps, or navigate uneven surfaces, please notify Amore Italy before booking so we can discuss whether the tour is appropriate for you.-
Before You Travel
For the 2027 Amore Italy tour, guests should plan to fly into Rome Fiumicino International Airport (FCO) at the beginning of the journey. The tour concludes in Florence, so guests should plan to depart from Florence Airport (FLR) for their return flight home or onward travel. This is considered an open-jaw itinerary, meaning you arrive in one city and depart from another. When booking airfare, select Rome (FCO) as your arrival airport and Florence (FLR) as your departure airport. Schedule your arrival into FCO before 10:00 am to allow enough time for border control, baggage collection, and transfer before your first tour.
Please do not book your flights until your Amore Italy departure dates and travel arrangements have been confirmed.Scheduled airport transfers are included as part of your Amore Italy itinerary. For the 2027 tour, this includes your scheduled arrival transfer from Rome Fiumicino International Airport (FCO) at the beginning of your journey and your scheduled departure transfer to Florence Airport (FLR) at the conclusion of the tour. Before departure, you will receive detailed instructions regarding your arrival procedure, designated meeting point, transfer time, and driver information. Guests arriving or departing outside the scheduled transfer times may be responsible for arranging and paying for their own transportation. Guests adding extensions before or after the Amore Italy itinerary are responsible for airport transfers.
Our team in Italy will monitor your flight status and adjust your airport pickup if your flight is delayed. When your flight arrives at Rome Fiumicino International Airport (FCO), proceed through passport control and collect your luggage. After exiting the baggage claim area, your Amore Italy driver will be waiting to greet you. The driver will be holding a sign displaying the Amore Italy name and your last name.
If you are unable to locate your driver after exiting baggage claim, please use WhatsApp on your phone to contact your driver directly. You may also contact Fortebraccio Hotel & Spa through WhatsApp for additional assistance. We strongly recommend that all travelers have WhatsApp installed and activated on their phone before departing for Italy.All U.S. travelers must have a valid passport to travel to Italy. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your scheduled return flight to the United States. Please check your passport expiration date well in advance and renew it early if necessary.
For typical tourist visits of 90 days or less, U.S. citizens do not need a visa to visit Italy. European entry requirements could change, however, and travelers are responsible for confirming the requirements in effect at the time of travel. The European Union is also preparing to implement the ETIAS travel authorization system, which is separate from a visa.
If you plan to drive a car or any motorized vehicle in Italy, you must carry your valid U.S. driver's license together with an International Driving Permit (IDP) obtained before leaving the United States. (An IDP cannot be obtained outside the U.S.)
If you plan to drive a Vespa, scooter, or motorcycle, you must also have a valid driver's license that authorizes you to operate the specific class of motorcycle or scooter you are renting, along with the appropriate International Driving Permit. Rental companies may have additional age, licensing, or experience requirements.
Each traveler is responsible for ensuring that their passport, driver's license, International Driving Permit, and any required European travel authorization meet the requirements in effect at the time of travel.We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance that may provide coverage for trip cancellation, Yes. We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance for your Amore Italy journey. Travel insurance may provide protection for unexpected situations such as trip cancellation or interruption, medical emergencies, flight delays, lost or delayed luggage, and other unforeseen events.
Because Amore Italy payments are non-refundable and non-transferable, travel insurance is especially important. Guests should carefully review the policy they purchase, including coverage limits, exclusions, pre-existing medical condition provisions, and the deadlines for purchasing certain types of coverage.Your final Amore Italy itinerary will be sent approximately three weeks before departure once all arrangements have been finalized. The itinerary will be delivered electronically so you can easily download and save it to your phone for convenient access throughout your trip. It will include your daily schedule, hotel information, transfers, important contact information, and other helpful travel details. All documents will be provided electronically unless otherwise noted.
Walking, Mobility, & Comfort
Travelers should be prepared to walk up to 2 miles on several sightseeing days. Some days may involve more or less walking, depending on the destinations and activities.
Italy’s historic towns have cobblestone streets, uneven pavement, hills, stairways, and pedestrian-only areas. These historic environments are part of Italy’s charm, but can present walking challenges.Comfortable walking shoes with good support and traction are strongly recommended. Cobblestone streets can be uneven and may become slippery when wet.
It depends on the individual traveler and itinerary. Guests should generally be able to enter and exit vehicles, walk on uneven surfaces, navigate stairs, and participate in walking tours. Please discuss any mobility concerns with Amore Italy before booking or traveling.
Please notify us in advance. Vehicle storage, hotel accessibility, and accessibility within historic Italian towns can vary considerably. We will discuss what accommodations may reasonably be available.
Participation is your choice. If you would prefer to rest, enjoy the hotel, or skip an activity, simply let your host or driver know. However, unused activities are not refundable.
Transportation
Amore Italy uses late-model luxury Mercedes-Benz vans selected to provide a comfortable travel experience throughout your journey. Depending on the size of your group, transportation will typically be provided in a Mercedes-Benz V-Class or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van, with seating generally designed for 5 to 8 passengers.
Private-driver transportation is one of the defining features of the Amore Italy experience. Whenever possible, the same private driver will remain with your group throughout the journey, providing continuity, familiarity, and a more personal travel experience. There may be occasions when scheduling needs, availability, or Italian health, safety, and labor regulations require a different driver for part of your tour. If that occurs, your substitute driver will be selected to provide the same high standard of safety, professionalism, and service.
Unlike traditional escorted tours, you will not be traveling on a large motorcoach with dozens of other guests. Your transportation is private and designed around your Amore Italy group.Amore Italy itineraries are designed to balance sightseeing with relaxation while minimizing unnecessary hotel changes. By staying primarily at Fortebraccio Hotel & Spa in Montone, you can explore many of the highlights of Umbria and Tuscany and return each evening to a familiar hotel.

For any drive expected to last longer than one hour, we plan a rest stop whenever practical so guests can use the restroom, stretch, and enjoy a coffee break. Actual travel times may vary depending on traffic, road conditions, weather, parking, and the specific pickup or drop-off location. Our goal is to make the transportation portion of your journey comfortable and enjoyable while giving you the opportunity to experience some of the most beautiful cities, villages, and countryside in central Italy.-
Your Amore Italy tour follows a carefully planned itinerary and transportation schedule designed to provide the best balance of sightseeing, relaxation, and travel time. Beginning in 2027, one day of the tour will be designated as a Flex Day. This gives your group the opportunity to choose from several optional experiences based on your interests.

All Flex Day requests must be selected, requested, and confirmed before your departure from the United States. This allows our team in Italy to coordinate driver schedules, reservations, operating hours, and any other arrangements that may be required. Once you arrive in Italy, major itinerary changes may not be possible due to driver availability, travel time, reservations, or other scheduling considerations. Additional costs may also apply for certain Flex Day activities.-
Not always. Many historic Italian city centers restrict vehicle access. In destinations, such as Rome, Florence, Siena, Assisi, and other medieval towns, guests may need to walk from designated vehicle drop-off points.
Hotels, Dining & Experiences
Fortebraccio Hotel & SPA is our boutique four-star hotel in Montone, Umbria. It serves as the primary home base for many Amore Italy journeys and provides guests with a more relaxed way to experience central Italy.
Montone is a beautiful medieval hilltop village in Umbria. Its central location provides convenient access to destinations including Assisi, Perugia, Cortona, Deruta, Gubbio, Lake Trasimeno, Montefalco, Tuscany, and many other historic communities.
Yes. Daily breakfast is included at Fortebraccio Hotel & SPA and is typically included at other hotels used during your journey unless otherwise specified.
We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate dietary restrictions and food allergies. Please provide this information to Amore Italy well before departure so our hotels, restaurants, and experience partners can prepare appropriately.
Depending on your itinerary, experiences may include wineries, cooking experiences, truffle hunting, historic villages, private guided tours, local restaurants, artisan visits, spa experiences, cultural activities, and other signature Amore Italy moments.
Yes. Depending on availability and your itinerary, optional experiences may include golf, hot-air ballooning, additional spa treatments, private excursions, upgraded accommodations, or extensions to destinations such as Florence or Venice.
Some experiences are weather dependent. If weather prevents an activity from operating safely, we will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the experience or provide an appropriate alternative when possible.
Money, Technology & Everyday Travel
We recommend carrying a modest amount of euros for small purchases, cafés, markets, gratuities, and locations that may not accept credit cards. Major credit cards are accepted at many businesses throughout Italy. Euros can be obtained at your local bank, but require time to be ordered.
Most modern smartphones, tablets, and laptop chargers work with European voltage, but you will need the appropriate Italian or European plug adapter. Guests should verify voltage compatibility before using hair dryers, curling irons, or other high-powered appliances.
Come ready to experience Italy on Italy’s terms. Meals may last longer, roads may be narrower, schedules may feel more relaxed, and centuries-old towns were not designed around modern conveniences. Bring comfortable shoes, an open mind, and a sense of adventure.
Amore Italy is about more than seeing Italy. Our goal is for you to slow down, connect with the people and places around you, and experience Italy in a way you will remember for the rest of your life.Because luggage space in our Mercedes-Benz vans is limited, we ask that each traveler bring only one primary piece of luggage for the journey. Packing light helps ensure there is adequate room for everyone’s belongings and makes loading and unloading much easier throughout the tour. To make lighter packing easier, Fortebraccio Hotel & Spa offers laundry service, which can be used midway through your stay if needed for a small fee.
We also strongly recommend bringing comfortable, supportive walking shoes. Many Italian cities and hill towns feature cobblestone streets, uneven walkways, steps, and hilly terrain, so proper footwear can make a significant difference in your comfort and safety while sightseeing. A smaller personal item or carry-on may also be appropriate, but oversized or excessive luggage should be avoided whenever possible.Tipping is not mandatory, but it is encouraged when you feel you have received excellent service. For your Amore Italy Ambassador/Driver, we recommend a gratuity of approximately €10 per person, per day based on the quality of service provided throughout your journey. Discretionary tipping for private cooking-class chefs, local guides, hotel staff, restaurant staff, or other service providers is also always appreciated when you feel they have provided exceptional service. All gratuities are entirely at your discretion and should reflect your personal satisfaction with the service you received.
Yes. Italy uses different electrical outlets than the United States. Travelers should bring a European plug adapter suitable for Italy, where Type C, F, and L outlets may be encountered. Italy also operates on 230-volt electricity, compared with approximately 120 volts in the United States. Most modern phones, tablets, laptops, and USB chargers are dual voltage and only require a plug adapter. However, always check the label on your device or charger to make sure it indicates 100–240V before plugging it into an Italian outlet. Fortebraccio Hotel and Spa offers USB plugs that do not require an adapter. You can use these to charge your phones bedside.
Italy uses the Euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted throughout Italy, and we recommend using a major credit card for most purchases. Visa and Mastercard are generally the most commonly accepted. It is still a good idea to carry a modest amount of Euros for small purchases, tips, cafés, markets, and businesses that may not accept cards.
You generally do not need to obtain a large amount of Euros before leaving the United States. ATMs in Italy can be a convenient way to obtain local currency. Check with your bank regarding international ATM and transaction fees before departure. When a credit-card terminal or ATM asks whether you would like the transaction charged in U.S. dollars or Euros, we generally recommend selecting Euros and allowing your bank or credit-card company to make the currency conversion. Be sure to notify your bank and credit-card companies of your international travel if required by your financial institution.Yes, but you need to be especially careful with personal appliances that produce heat. Italy operates on 230-volt electricity, and many American curling irons, flat irons, hair dryers, and similar appliances are designed only for 120 volts. A plug adapter does not convert the voltage.
Before bringing an appliance, check the voltage information printed on it. If it is marked 100–240V, it should generally work in Italy with the appropriate European plug adapter. If it is marked only 110V or 120V, we recommend leaving it at home rather than risking damage to the appliance or the hotel's electrical system.
Fortebraccio Hotel & Spa and your other hotels provide hair dryers, so there is generally no need to pack one. For curling irons and styling tools, the easiest option is to bring a dual-voltage model specifically designed for international travel.Italy is generally 7 hours ahead of Central Time, including Nebraska. For example, when it is:
8:00 AM in Nebraska → approximately 3:00 PM in Italy
12:00 Noon in Nebraska → approximately 7:00 PM in Italy
5:00 PM in Nebraska → approximately Midnight in Italy
Because the United States and Europe change between daylight-saving and standard time on different dates, there are short periods during the spring and fall when the difference may temporarily be 6 or 8 hours instead of 7 hours. We recommend setting your phone to automatically update its date and time while traveling. Once you arrive in Italy and connect to the cellular network or Wi-Fi, most smartphones will automatically display the correct local time.

Wi-Fi quality and speed may vary, particularly in historic buildings and rural areas. We recommend downloading your final itinerary, airline information, maps, and other important travel documents to your phone before departure so they are available even when you do not have an internet connection.Yes. Major credit cards are widely accepted throughout Italy, particularly Visa and Mastercard. We recommend traveling with at least two different credit cards, preferably carried separately, in case one card is lost, declined, or temporarily blocked. It is also wise to carry a modest amount of Euros for tips, small cafés, markets, public restrooms, and businesses that may prefer cash.
When given the choice of being charged in U.S. dollars or Euros, we generally recommend choosing Euros and allowing your bank or credit-card company to handle the currency conversion.Bring enough prescription medication for your entire trip, plus a small additional supply in case of unexpected travel delays. Medications should be kept in your carry-on luggage rather than checked baggage whenever possible. We recommend keeping prescription medications in their original labeled containers. If you take important or unusual medications, consider carrying a copy of your prescription or a list showing the medication name, dosage, and prescribing physician. Never place essential medications in checked luggage.

Beginning in 2027, the Amore Italy itinerary includes one night in Rome, six nights in Montone at Fortebraccio Hotel & SPA, and one night in Florence. The centerpiece of your stay is Fortebraccio Hotel & Spa, our boutique hilltop retreat in Montone, Umbria. For your nights in Rome and Florence, Amore Italy selects accommodations from a curated list of quality 4-star hotels. The specific hotel is confirmed based on availability at the time your final payment is made. This allows us to maintain the quality and location standards of the Amore Italy experience while securing the best available hotel for your travel dates.
All payments made toward your Amore Italy journey are non-refundable and non-transferable. Because unexpected circumstances can arise before or during your trip, we strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. Travel insurance may provide protection for covered circumstances such as trip cancellation or interruption, medical emergencies, travel delays, and lost or delayed baggage. While our itineraries are thoughtfully designed to balance sightseeing with relaxation, guests should be comfortable with a moderate-to-high level of daily walking. When touring Italian cities and hill towns such as Rome, Florence, Assisi, Perugia, Siena, and Cortona, travelers should be physically able to walk up to approximately 2 miles per day.
